I thought with Sir Craig taking over the post of Scotland manager that i might bring myself to give a toss about the national side but as usual i really don't give a moinkey's. I know lots of you guys are probably passionate about supporting Scotland but i ask you, whats the appeal?. When United played Hull in pre-season a section of the United support broke into some sort of tartan army bollocks sing-a-long which left me cringing with embarrasment. Why these guys felt the need to sing Scotland songs at a United game was lost on me just as getting steamed up about watching Scotland play leaves me scratching my head.

I only began watching international football around the time of the 1998 world cup, and im not old enough to have seen the great Scotland sides. I have never seen a player as good as Dennis Law or Danny Mcgrain (who my dad ensures me is one of the best fullbacks of all time) and i have never seen a team with the capability to win a tournament (which again my dad ensures me Scotland have possessed in the past). It seems to me that perhaps because of the failings in the past, with GOOD players, there is now a massive emphasis placed on trying to negotiate the team into a tournament, that has now become the primary goal- rightly or wrongly. The way Scottish management teams have tried to do this in my time as a Scottish supporter, has usually been in a stealthy, cagey way- trying to pick up a few points here and there, hope for a good result at home, hope other scores go our way. We are so scared of failure that it has become almost a certain guarantee. Listening to Scott Brown talking about how we need to win as many home matches as possible- that these are the most important games- is cringeworthy. We were playing LITHUANIA. Even with the new breed of average players we have, we should have been expecting to win- demanding it of the team even. Levein's attitude on BBC sport today is just as bad. Now that we are playing the football powerhouse of LIECHTENSTEIN, we will now attack. "It will probably need one or two more flair players to try and break the opposition down."

Sorry Craig- we needed these lads away from home against Lithuania too. We need to actually WIN games to qualify for this bloody tournament. What are the chances of us missing out by two points? Knowing our luck, we will.

International football is a different beast to club management. For smaller nations like us it requires almost a siege mentality- we need to win games like that away from home, we need to attack and win, like the ROI. They have a much better attitude than us- they will at least have a go to get the points.

"While Levein may look to players like Graham Dorrans, James McFadden and Kris Boyd to unlock Liechtenstein, there is little prospect of the manager altering his safety first approach, when it comes to games against Scotland's other Group I rivals."

Why were these dangerous players not securing us the points in Lithuania? Because Levein didn't have the cojones to take a gamble like that? I would rather we went out trying to win all three than playing for one.

Sorry about this disjointed rant, and i must admit that when i saw the team sheet i mostly watched Andy Murray- a WINNING Scot, progress through the US Open, switching between the two. I am sick of the spineless safety-first approach, and Kenny Miller? I hate Kenny Miller. I hate how his face is a strange patchy brown colour, like he has had a bad going over with a spray tan bottle, i hate how he is lauded JUST because he puts in a load of effort- what happened to rewarding craft and guile as well? I hate how he is a hun, and i hate his patchy brown face. Sorry, im repeating myself.

This post started off in a serious tone, but i appear to have lost my way. Blame Kenny Miller.

Levein really annoyed me last night with his persistance to play wingers on the opposite side, it was very clear that faddy was going to come on at one point, but his reluctance to have two left footers on either wing resulted in our most threatning player going off. Roboson was having a great game and was constantly looking like a threat, why not keep him on?

Faddy and Robson on either wing and switching about every so often was the way forward at this point of the game imo, but Levien's old united bad habits are still certainly an issue. Subbies too late again, 15 minutes to go and your looking for a vital goal to win it, he brings Morrison on to play midfield when he has boyd sitting on the bench, why not go 4-4-2 and go for it? Miller and Boyd have bagged plenty of goals for der hun and would have provided more of a chance of producing that vital goal to clinch all 3 important points.

His last subbie then is a bloody defender, why? Did whitaker get injured right at the end?

All in all we need to have taken maximum points from yesterday and tuesday if we really want to have a realistic chance of ending our tournament drought, unless we get some freak results against the spanish and Czech's and levien stops making these baffling desicions then I cannot see us qualifying again :(

To start off with, Robbie Keane, diving ****.

Interesting to see how it goes. Armenia aren't the best of sides, but Ireland full off players who aren't getting a regular game.

Liam Lawrence, Robbie Keane, Kevin Doyle, Shay Given, Aiden McGreedy.

Even Given is fumbling at the ball. Shouldn't be any excuses if Armenia were to get anything from this though, Ireland should take them easily from what I've seen of them in the first 15 minutes.

Kevin Doyle doing alright in the air for a wee guy, Keane should've put them 1-0 up though, kick out from Given, flicked by Doyle, Keane snapped at it on the volley and sliced it wide.

Didn't actually realise it til he came up here last year, but Keane is one moaning ******* like.
