Terrible, terrible news. Especially so soon after Ken Mitchell's passing.

Rest in peace, Eddie. You'll be sadly missed.

And to the Thompson family: all of our thoughts are with you

I got a text from Crucible this morning letting me know the sad news, as has been said above regardless of the fact you know this news has been inevitable since the turn of the year, it doesn't make it any easier to hear.

Thank you Eddie for being the main man behind making me very, very proud to be a United supporter again, I kinda lost my way a bit under the tail end of McLeans regime, but now, due to the time, efforts and passion you put into Dundee United I am back to being as 'shedded out my nut' as ever before.

There are not many clubs of the stature of Dundee United who can boast a chairman who genuinely had nothing but the club, the players, the staff and the fans at heart. We are lucky and proud to be able to say we certainly had that in you.

You are an inspriation to all arabs and I hope your family will continue your legacy at Tannadice in honour of your memory.

RIP Eddie, a true arab.
