Roberto Landi takes his Livingston side West on Saturday to face second-bottom Clyde at Broadwood. The Lions come into the match on the back of two straight league defeats, having conceded 7 and scoring just 1 in matches against Queen of the South and St Johnstone. The Lions' last victory was almost a month ago when Partick were beaten 3-1 at Almondvale.
The two games at Broadwood last season were to say the least, shocking from both teams; Clyde sneaked a 2-1 win in December whilst another tight contest in April was edged 3-2 in the favour of Clyde despite Mark Tinkler's superb 40 yard drive.
The Lions' will be hoping for better luck this time, and beat Clyde 2-1 at Almondvale in August thanks to a late strike from Leigh Griffiths, who misses out due to international commitments with Scotland's U19s. Jason Talbot also misses out due to a hamstring injury, which caused him to limp off during last Saturday's home defeat to St Johnstone. Rocco Quinn is also a doubt after being hit by a bout of the 'flu, and it remains to be seen whether he will be to travel with the squad to Cumbernauld. One player coming back however, is Calum Elliot, who has served his suspension after picking up a red card at Queen of the South, which means Gordon Smith drops to the bench.
Roberto Landi gave his thoughts about Saturday's game:
"Tomorrow is another difficult game for us. They are second bottom
in the league but that doesn't mean it will be an easy match. They are
at home and they will want to win 100% because they need the three
points. But we are in the same situation. We want to stay at the top
of the league and need the three points also. If we win tomorrow, we
have a good chance of going it alone at the top of the table. As normal
though, it is another big fight for us.
"The weather this week has been very bad, and it causing problems
in training as we can't do certain things because of the wind and the
rain. During the sessions this week I have had to change some of the
things we have been doing because it has been impossible to do what is
normal for us because of the conditions. I don't know if I will have
to change our style of play for the match tomorrow. We have played only
one game in weather like this and that was at Queen of the South, so I
don't have much experience of it.
"It depends what the weather is like on the day. If it is wet but
the park is still in good condition, we won't have any problem with
passing it and playing as normal. If the ground isn't good, then we
might have to change the play.
"We are glad to have Calum Elliot back for tomorrow's game. He is
an easy pick for me, a first choice. Gordon Smith is a great striker
and he played well against St Johnstone, but Calum for me returns to
the team. He is important to the team, and will start the match.
"I hope it is a good match, and that we can win again and go top
of the division on our own. We are good enough to do that. I encourage
all of the Livingston supporters who can make the journey tomorrow to
get behind the team and cheer them on to win."
